Libdems Facts

One example was the decision by the Lib Dems to close the public toilets on Church Street, Holt and to look to redevelop the land for housing to make a quick profit. The loss of public toilets in such a popular tourist area upset local people, but what has really got them incensed was what the Lib Dems are to do next. The land was originally given to the people of Holt for the express purpose of providing public facilities and a covenant was placed on the land to that effect. But the Lib Dems are refusing to hand the land back to Holt to be used for community facilities (a museum being one popular option) and instead wants to spend council taxpayers' money fighting in the courts to have the covenant lifted to enable the land to be sold for housing - against the will of the family of the original benefactor. So will the money at least be returned to the people of Holt? Will it heck - it will go straight into the pocket of the District Council. Another example is the North Lodge Park in Cromer, the park currently includes a cafe, boating lake, children's playground and a wonderful area of green space within the town. So what do the Lib Dems want to do with it? In their infinite wisdom they have decided to turn a large part of it, including the children's playground, into a car park. Now parking is an issue in Cromer but to be considering concreting over this "green lung" in the town is just nonsense. Rather than exploring other ideas, like the Conservative idea for a park and ride scheme with a shuttle bus
